Everything we place in your mouth stays there for a long time. A filling, a crown, an inlay. Biocompatible materials are materials that your body tolerates well. At naiida Tandartsen, we work metal-free wherever possible: composite instead of amalgam, and crowns made of ceramic or zirconia. If you want to make a conscious choice about what goes into your body, we will discuss the options together. Without detox promises. But honest.
Biocompatible means: a material that your body tolerates well and causes minimal strain. It is not a sharply defined group. Virtually all materials used by dentists have been tested for safety. Nevertheless, there are differences between materials. There are also alternatives. For most people, the choice makes little difference. Are you sensitive to certain substances, or do you want to choose what you use yourself? Then there is room to see what suits you.
We work metal-free wherever possible. Composite is our standard for fillings. We have not used amalgam for years. For crowns and inlays, we choose ceramic or zirconia, without a metal underlayer. If you have a known nickel sensitivity, there are nickel-free options.

Some practices link materials to detox or claim that metal fillings make you sick. We do not do that. Science is not conclusive on this matter. Therefore, we promise neither detoxification nor a cure. What we do do: listen to what you want. And where possible, choose materials that provide you with comfort. Physically and mentally.
If this is important to you, we will discuss the options. What are the advantages, what are the disadvantages? What does it cost? How long will it last? You will receive honest information, without judgment. The choice is yours.
Where possible, yes. For fillings, we use composite, a tooth-colored material without metal. We make crowns and inlays from ceramic or zirconia, without a metal underlayer. Working completely metal-free is not possible in every situation. We discuss what is possible and what suits you for each treatment.
No. We haven't placed amalgam fillings for years. Our standard is composite: tooth-colored, metal-free, and functional. It is applied in layers and cured with blue light. If you still have old amalgam fillings, you don't necessarily need to have them replaced. We will assess together whether that is necessary.
We do not remove healthy fillings to detoxify. There is no scientific evidence for detox, so we do not make that promise. If there is a dental reason, such as a leaking or cracked filling, we will replace it. If you want it for another reason, we will first honestly discuss the pros and cons.
Then we will take that into account. In case of known nickel sensitivity, we use nickel-free alloys or metal-free materials such as ceramics and zirconia. Please tell us before we begin. Together, we will then choose a material that your body tolerates well and that you feel comfortable with.
